475g can of black beans or chickpeas, drained  4 tablespoons tahini  2 tablespoons warm water
11/2 tablespoons cold-pressed virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons soy sauce (non-GMO, wheat free/gluten-
free are available in supermarkets)
2-4 garlic cloves, minced   1 teaspoon cumin powder
2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf parsley
Toasted rye bread or chopped raw vegetables, to serve


Place all the ingredients except the flat-leaf parsley in the bowl of a food blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with parsley.
Serve with toasted rye bread or chopped raw vegetables.
